Well built but fiddly to clean
Takes a couple of hours to build as people have mentioned, build quality is far superior than my previous gas BBQ but that should be expected as it was double the price.
The hybrid thing seems to work quite well, I've done 3 coal cooks on it all have gone well, there is no air flow control like a weber when using coal so temp control is limited to opening and shutting the lid.
Cooking on gas also seems to work fine, very good temp control, cleaning is a bit of a problem as the bottom of the BBQ bit is not removable, my old BBQ the whole under side beneath the burners slid out and could be scraped clean quite easily, the Coal 2 gas requires you to remove all the grill, heat shields etc to get and clean it. (Unfortunately, it does say in the small print that this BBQ is not designed to be cleaned by turning it on full and burning excessive off, I hadn’t seen this bit, this technique worked fine on my old barby for years.)
The grill rack itself is very sturdy cast iron, but things do seem to stick to it quite easily.
Overall would I buy again, the jury’s still out…

Absolutely love this; great quality, dual fuel
If I could give this more than 5*s I would!
The product came packaged in a high-quality box.
All the components were present and correct.
The assembly guide and user manual was very straightforward.
The fixings (screws, nuts and bolts etc) were film wrapped on a piece of card. Each fitting was clearly visible through the shrink-wrapped cellophane. The code number for each fitting was printed on the reverse of the card. Brilliant idea, you can clearly identify each component fitting.
Assembly was very straightforward, as I followed the sequential order of assembly. However, towards the end, I couldn’t get the side tray to fixing points to align to the frame. I was about 3mm off, so the only option available to me was to drill the sheet metal on the side tray, to make the fixing hole a little bigger so I could push the fixing bolt through to the frame.
My other option would have been to partially dis-assemble the BBQ, and be more precise in fixing in the first place. My fault for not being meticulous and precise in the first place.
Once fully assembled, the BBQ looks great, strong sturdy and of a very high quality black painted finish.
The quality of the cast iron grills is excellent.
Cooking on the BBQ was so easy.
I had a gas BBQ many years ago and have been cooking on coals for over 10 years but had forgotten how easy it is to cook on gas.
You have to be very careful not to burn your food on coals, but with this gas BBQ you can instantly turn the heat down, which you cant do with coals.
The food came out tender and juicy, with a distinctive “char-grilled” taste, almost the same as for coal.
So then I tried coal in this BBQ, and it was brilliant. Just load your coal, light the coal with the gas setting. So easy, no faffing around with firelighters or fluid.
The coal grilled food was 100%.
I would highly recommend this BBQ to anyone who’s looking to purchase a new BBQ you will honestly not regret buying this! Amazing!

Extremely difficult to assemble
I bought this a few weeks ago and I am still struggling to assemble THE BBQ the instructions are very poor mainly in many languages but little in English only pivtures for assembly no written instructions Has I known the difficulty I would not have bought the BBQ

bad storage
The bbq looks great, although it comes with charcoal tray it doesnt come with the tool to lift out the grates to put charcoal tray under. The back of the bbq is open, could have done with being solid so could store pots and pans without getting dusty rather than putting a cover on every time (when bbq has cooled down!) For the price, surely a decent bag of charcoal could have been thrown in. Looking forward to using it but design needs some work.

Is it possible to use the gas to keep coals warm if they start to cool down too soon?

We do not recommend to do so. You would do it at your own risk. We haven't constructed the grill in that way.

Hello. Very interested in your bbqs. Forgive the silly question but just wondering I prefer to use wood instead of charcoal would that be fine to use instead with your char broil bbqs?

It is not supposed that the Gas2Coal model can be fired with wood, because the wood can reach much higher temperatures, which can damage the grill.
Furthermore, in the charcoal tray of the Gas2Coal 3-burner grill, a maximum of 1.4 kg of charcoal can be used at one time.

Is it ok to use fire lighters if I have no gas? Like use it as a regular bbq using the coal tray?
Hi Fisher.The coal could alternatively be lit with dry lighter.
Do not use spirit or petrol for lighting or re lighting! Never use lighter fluid, kerosene, gasoline or alcohol to light charcoal. Never use wood chunks or instant light in your barbecue

Can the gas burner be used to ignite the charcoals?

On the Gas2Caol model, the charcoal or briquettes in the charcoal tray can be ignited using the burners. But this can not last longer than 15 min. (otherwise see the instruction manual carefully)

The new edition of our permanent burner has got an integrated bottle opener made of zinc die-cast, that the cool favorite drink does not stay closed for a long time, in the base cabinet a gas bottle can be placed underneath (please note the height of the gas bottle) and according to your own needs the grill can be extended by storage elements of our MADE2MATCH system.
